In preparation for the new management arrangements of the Church St car park, signs have been put in place today. The parking rules don't apply yet, so the main sign has been left covered.
The start of management can start once Cheshire West repaint double yellow lines on parts of Church Street, to better enable cars to leave the car park safely, and to help traffic travelling along Church St.
It still wasn't possible to mark the second disabled parking bay, in the left hand corner of the car park because the resident occupying this space refused to move their vehicles. We apologise to those disabled drivers who use the car park, and would like to use these bays in particular, for this inconvenience.
The two corner disabled spaces planned are the easiest to access by disabled drivers (minimal manoeuvring), and they also provide a safe space for side and rear-access for wheelchairs. A considerable amount of thought has gone into the new arrangements to cater for the parking needs of all our residents and visitors. Unfortunately, the people preventing us from establishing the second disabled space enjoy the convenience and would like to keep it for their own use.
We'll continue to try and resolve this situation.
