During August, Sid was positioned on Quarry Lane, just to the south of the bridge over the stream, monitoring the speed of vehicles coming down the hill.
An average of just over 130 vehicles a day passed that point in that direction. Of those, about three quarters were doing 30mph or below. About 20% were doing between 30mph and 35mph which is not fast enough to be prosecuted even though it exceeds the speed limit. 180 vehicles, an average of about 6 per day, were doing more than 35mph, the threshold for prosecution. The fastest recorded speed was 48mph.
